My Daughter

My daughter
l want you to know
For us you are no less than your bro.
Son or daughter,
Daughter or son for us you are two sides of the same coin.
Both of you are our sunshine
And in rainbow of our family both of you are two vibrant hues.

My Sweetheart
Remember, ofcourse you are prim rose of our garden
But your brother is also not a thorn,
As many people in the name of feminism will try to portray.
In times to come
When you will be young
Don't forget
Your grandma
Your mom and  all your aunts
Were someone's daughters.
And your future
Mom-in-law and sister-in-law are  someone's daughters too.

My love
Time tested age old sublime bond between siblings has been spiced with greed and thus tarnished in name of progress and equality.
But let me teach you reality which l have heard from my mom.
If you wish to inherit
Inherit our values,
Inherit our love,
Inherit our traditions,
Inherit our sacrifices,
Inherit our life's lessons,
And above all inherit respect for your bro,
Because in times when you two will grow
And a searching glance around you ,you would throw.
You will have no choice
You have to find our, your parents traces in each other's faces.
Time will fly and howsoever you may cry
We are not going to return to settle your childish scores.
In that hour, at that moment
You two will be each other's tissues and wipes.

My Dearie
Every day is a daughter's day for us
Since without you Rakhi ,Tikka would have been bland and bleak.
But here l want you to remember without your brother's blessed forehead and wrist, on both these holy occasions there wouldn't have been any festivity.

My Cute Doll
On the whole
I promise you of not a beggar's but a warrior's life
Fortified and equipped with education
Which has potential to turn pebbles into gold.
I promise you of a life
Decorated with strong humane emotions.
Which will make you wish for your brother's health not his pelf.
And look forward to the inevitable day
When your parents , your harbingers
Will be mingled with the stars
That whenever you will raise your voice it will be for your brother's praise.
That when in the name of womanism and liberalism the trumpet would blow and there would be demand of equal rights.
My daughter, my shadow would demand equal duty and for that won't hesitate to fight.

A part of my heart ,
For sure you will be getting what's your due but promise you will never despise , never criticise your brother
Who of course you know is the other part of my heart.
When we would be gone
Gone with the winds to our ultimate home,
Promise me
You will be the unshakeable shoulder for my son,
When he may need someone to tow him out from life's dark dismal clouds.
And mark my words in lieu
You will have him your brother beside you in place of your dear father.
Watching you two
Holding eachother in hour of need with our invisible unearthly eyes
We would for sure relish the heavely peace and bliss.
But if by chance it goes otherwise
Our two souls for sure burn in inferno.
If you don't want that to happen
As l am sure you don't  then you both would consider eachother more precious than platinum , diamond and gold.

  2. An emotional outburst pouring potions of motherhood mingled with sermons of sibling values adherence aptly cemented by bricked virtues of parenthood....
Full points to mother blogger for divine interventions of not blowing the own trumpet but playing triumphant festivities celebrating advice 'rakhis' & guidance 'tikkas' tying & embarking sis-bro strong knot... Good you shared the reality passing the legacy of your learning as you balanced son-daughter equality versions preparing all daugh-ters to be figh-ters for their brot-hers.. even in absence of mot-hers..
What a beautiful .... rather I should say BETI-ful verse... no BETA can BEAT this masterpiece..

Working Mom

The title of this write-up may make no sense and might seem whimsical to some. Yet, I couldn't think of any other, though I did try to run the horses of my mind for hours to replace it with a better one. Anyhow, its content, I hope, is worth reading. This may sound contrary to me,a language teacher who always guided  pupils to choose eye-catching and gripping titles for their work. Yesterday, a phone call from my twenty-one-year-old daughter led to a discussion  about the parents’ rights over children. I, being a mother, feel that a mother—being the carrier of her baby in the womb for nine long months and then bringing the baby into this world with unimaginable pain has rights to advocate. I told her about how difficult it is for a mother to stay away from her children, especially toddlers. I shared with her the hardest choice I had to make when she was just one and a half years old and my elder child was  three. It was one of the toughest years of my marriage....

When Skill Meets Determination:A Salon, A Story and a Salute

Since time immemorial, both men and women have wished, ventured, and craved to look good, better, and sometimes the best. In every nook and corner of the world, whether in a bustling city, a quiet suburb, or a small village, salons and beauty parlours stand as testimony to this universal desire. With each generation, the dependence on such services has grown, shortcuts have become acceptable, and professional grooming has turned into a necessity rather than a luxury. This observation isn’t a conclusion drawn from research; it is born from personal experience with my twenty-one-year-old daughter. Having recently begun to manage her life independently, she is particular about her appearance and outlook. For the past three years, she has been living abroad and returns home every December for a month. During this time, she sweetly wishes to be pampered in every possible way. One such indulgence is getting her hair washed and blow-dried at a salon so that her curtain bangs remai...

Silence

Silence is serene. Silence is solace. In several ways, silence saves the savage soul. Silence is static, strong, like sky-kissing mountains circling a sleepy hill town. Silence is somber when it stems from sadness. Silence strives to sleep over sickening strategies. Silence confers the childlike sleep upon the soulful, while it steals the peace of the soulless. Silence smiles and silences all conjectures. For a few, silence is a sweet remedy; for others, silence is a malady. For some, silence is a question impossible to crack. For others, silence is the answer to every crux. For some, silence is a shield. For others, the sharpest knife, the searing scythe. Most times, aparently silence saves bonds. At times, it breaks them into forms unrecognizable. Silence wears the face of a silent sage, yet stands indisputed as  a symbol of untamed rage. Life screams. Death silences. silence is a voice in itself, raising walls too high for unwanted noise to climb. Silence is a misunderstood path...
